2. Make sure that the embedded hypervisor flash device is seated in the connector correctly.
3. See the documentation that comes with the optional embedded hypervisor flash device to validate that
the device is configured correctly.
4. Make sure that other software works on the server.
Server does not power on
Note:
The power-control button will not function until approximately 5 to 10 seconds after the server has
been connected to power.
1. If an extra optional device has been just installed, remove it and power on the server again. If the server
is powered on this time, it indicates adding this optional device takes more than the system power could
afford.
2. Check the power button LED:
• If the power button LED is lit, check the system event log.
– If there is readable system event log without uefi errors, replace the system board (see
board replacement (trained technician only)” on page 149
– In the following cases, call Lenovo Service.
– There is readable system event log with uefi errors.
– There is no readable system event log.
• If the power button LED is not lit:
a. Disconnect and reconnect the power cable.
b. Make sure the power supplies are of the same type (the system-error LED would be lit if power
supply units do not match), and reseat all the units.
c. Check if any power supply error LED it lit (see
“Power supply LEDs” on page 18
), and replace the
faulty unit if any is found.
If the problem persists, call Lenovo service.
The following steps are for Lenovo Service only.
1. If there is readable system event log with uefi errors, replace the Root of Trust Module (see
and TPM 2.0 Security Module replacement (trained technician only)” on page 166
2. If there is no readable system event log, but the power button LED is still lit, bring the following
replacement units, run diagnostic isolation, and replace the faulty parts.
• System board (see
“System board replacement (trained technician only)” on page 149
)
• Root of Trust Module (see
“Firmware and TPM 2.0 Security Module replacement (trained technician
)
3. If the power button LED is not lit, bring the following replacement units, run diagnostic isolation, and
replace the faulty parts.
• Power backplane (see
“Power backplane replacement” on page 120
• System board (see
“System board replacement (trained technician only)” on page 149
)
• Root of Trust Module (see
“Firmware and TPM 2.0 Security Module replacement (trained technician
)
