The 493 31 / 32 detectors are equipped with a multizone Fresnel lens which offers a 360° field of vision and coverage of
50 m
2
for a detector installed at a height of 2.4 m.
The following diagrams demonstrate the maximum coverage for move-
ments of approximately half a step, without any obstacle or barrier to the
infrared rays.

Description
Cat. Nos. 493 31 / 32 are passive infrared presence detectors designed for automatic lighting control.
This type of sensor reacts to variations in the infrared radiation given off by a moving body in its coverage area.
To be detected, a person has to move directly into the sensor field of vision, and for this reason it is essential to deter-
mine the position of the sensor very carefully.
The 493 31 / 32 detectors can be overridden by an infrared remote control (Cat. Nos. 882 28/29, 746 21 / 22).
The 493 32 can also be used to measure the lighting level for automatic lighting control.
