Description

The 6338 45 Outdoor Speaker is made of a tough semi-flexible plastic and also features a perforated
aluminum grill. The brackets are powder coated aluminum.

A. For pre-wire, run x/2 conductor (x=gauge) stranded speaker wire from the distribution/volume control to
each outdoor speaker location.
B. Drill a hole large enough to accommodate the speaker wire through the outside wall at an appropriate
location for each outdoor speaker, and place each speaker wire from the volume control through the hole to
the outside.
Leave at least a foot of wire outside, and seal the hole with caulk.
C. Place the speaker wire through the hole in the center of the Outdoor Speaker bracket, and mount the
Speaker brackets to the outside wall using two screws per bracket (see

Figure 3

), and the appropriate

retention device (i.e. masonry inserts for a masonry wall).

Installation

NOTE: It is recommended that a minimum of 16 gauge, 2 conductor wire be used for most
applications from the amplifier or volume control to the speaker. Different gauges can, and should,
be used based upon the distance of the intended run or quality of installation

(see

Figure 2

)

D. Strip off 60 mm or so of the speaker cable jacket to expose the positive and negative insulated wires.
Strip 10 mm of insulation off of these conductors.
E. Hold the speaker with one hand, (if speaker grill is off, pay careful attention

not

to push on the woofer’s

cone, this can cause permanent contortion of the voice coil, thus producing a mechanical rubbing sound or
speaker failure) unscrew the Red and Black screw terminals, insert the bare speaker wires through the hole
in each post, and tighten each screw terminal. Be sure to have the positive wire in the RED terminal and
the negative in the BLACK (see

Figure 4

). As you tighten each screw terminal wiggle the wire and

tighten some more.
