WIRING

/PLUG

We strongly encourage a licensed electrician install this product

, in all locations especially in outdoor areas

where weatherproofing may be required. Universal voltage driver permits operation at 1

2

0V  -  277V AC, 50 or 60Hz

stepped down to 24V DC

Warning:

Check product label for correct input voltage!

Attach supply line wires to the appropriate light fixture wires as shown

in the diagram

Secure each pair of wires according to the diagram. Utilize a junction box or

similar  device  and  take  precautionary  steps  for  weatherproofing  all

connections if installed in a location where water may come in contact with the

unit. Ensure the unit is properly grounded and that wiring is done according to

all local and national electrical/building codes.

This explosion proof portable lighting system is equipped with 100 feet of 12/3 chemical and abrasion resistant SOOW cord

that is fitted with an explosion proof cord cap for easy connection to explosion proof outlets. There is an additional 5 feet of

12/3 SOOW cord between the encapsulated transformer and the explosion proof cord cap. Plug options include a 5-15 15

amp  straight  blade  plug  for  use  with  120V  explosion  proof  outlets,  a  5-20  20  amp  straight  blade  plug  for  use  with  120V

explosion proof outlets, or a 6-20 20 amp straight blade plug for use with 220-240V explosion proof outlets. These explosion

proof cord caps are designed to lock into compatible twist lock receptacles by twisting the plug body until an audible click is

heard, which indicates the plug is securely connected. Once locked into place this plug will not accidentally pull out.

Additional  configurations  include  general  area  cord  caps,  weatherproof  cord  caps,  shore  power  cord  caps,  weatherproof

NEMA 3R/4 in-line step-down transformers, and explosion proof NEMA 7/9 in-line step-down transformers.

Exp Cord Cap

Position  device  near  work  area  for  operation.  Run  cable  to  nearby  power

source. Insert and twist-lock explosion-proof plug into a compatible receptacle within

the hazardous environment. See

plug operation

 below.

PLUG OPERATION

Electrical connection between plug and compatible receptacle is accomplished

after plug fully inserts into receptacle and rotated clockwise.

1.

Lift receptacle door and locate polarization on mating plug pin and

receptacle face. Insert plug straight all the way into receptacle until it

cannot go further.

2.

Rotate plug clockwise limit (37º), this closes internal contacts and

completes circuit. This also mechanically locks plug into receptacle so it

cannot be pulled out.

3.

To remove plug, push plug inward and turn to counterclockwise, pull plug

straight out.

VOLTAGE

The  C1D1  explosion  proof  step-down  transformer  installed  in-line  provides  the  ability  to  automatically  monitor  and  adjust

input  current  to  maintain  the  correct  LED  voltage  levels  regardless  of  input  levels  across  a  specific  range.  These

transformers can operate on current ranging from 90 to 305V AC or 127 to 431V DC without any modifications necessary as

a result. This ability to sense and adjust input current also provides protection against voltage spikes and drops that can

occur  in  electrical  systems  which  would  otherwise  result  in  burning  up  or  premature  LED  failure  without  it.  The  inline

transformer  then  steps  down  the  input  voltage  to  24V  DC  to  power  the  explosion  proof  light.  We  also  offer  an  additional

347-480V high voltage, 125-250V DC, and 0-10V dimmable versions of this explosion proof LED light fixture.

FIELD SERVICEABILITY

This  explosion  proof  LED  light  fixture  is  field  serviceable.  All  major  internal  components  can  be  purchased  from  Larson

Electronics  and  installed  by  a  licensed  electrician  with  basic  tools.  With  most  explosion  proof  fixtures,  the  fixture  must  be

returned to the manufacturer for repair work, which presents downtime and long turn around times for repair work. Larson

Electronics addresses this issue with the Iron X series with field serviceability, allowing operators to perform service work

without having to return the fixture to the manufacturer in the event of damage or failure.
