Purge Hydraulic Cylinders
Refer to Figure 2-4 & Figure 2-5:
After hydraulic hose hook-up has been verified, purge
hydraulic cylinders of air in the following order:
1. Adjust park stands (#5) down as follows:
a. Transport safety chain (#7) must be unhooked
and stored in the opened end of park stand (#5).
b. Fully extend ARM1, ARM2, and DECK cylinders.
c. Lower tractor 3-point arms until the deck’s outer
skid shoe (#4) is several inches above ground. If
the deck has gauge wheels, adjust the gauge
wheels up high enough to allow the deck to rest on
outer skid shoe (#4).
d. Shut tractor down without changing height of the
e. Remove detent pins (#6). Adjust park stands (#5)
down as needed to support the cutter mainframe.
Replace detent pins.
f. Restart tractor and lower 3-point arms until cutter
mainframe is supported by park stands (#5).
g. Shut tractor down without changing the length of
the hydraulic cylinders. Refer to
2. Place an oil mat or other means under the cylinder
ports to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.
3. Loosen elbow fitting (#1) at the base of ARM1
cylinder.
4. Return to the tractor and slowly retract ARM1
cylinder until hydraulic oil starts to flow from the
cylinder’s base port.
5. Shut tractor engine off and remove ignition key.
6. Tighten elbow fitting (#1) and loosen elbow
fitting (#2) at the base of ARM2 cylinder.
7.
Restart tractor and fully extend ARM1 cylinder.
8. Slowly retract ARM2 cylinder until hydraulic oil starts
to flow from the cylinder’s base port.
9. Shut tractor engine off and remove ignition key.
10. Tighten elbow fitting (#2) and loosen elbow
fitting (#3) at the base of the DECK cylinder.
11. Restart tractor and fully extend ARM2 cylinder.
12. Slowly retract DECK cylinder until hydraulic oil starts
to flow from the cylinder’s base port.
13. Shut tractor engine off and remove ignition key.
14. Tighten elbow fitting (#3).
15. Restart tractor and fully extend DECK cylinder.
16. Check hydraulic fluid level in your tractor's reservoir.
If low, add fluid to the tractor’s hydraulic system
before proceeding. The cylinders and hoses will
require approximately 1 3/4 gallons (6.6 liters) from
the tractor reservoir.
