Hitch Assembly
Refer to Figure 1-4:
1. Start tractor and raise center deck up slightly. Return
tractor control lever to center detent. Do not place
tractor control lever in float position.
2. Put tractor in park or set park brake, turn off engine,
and remove switch key before dismounting tractor.
3. Refer to Detail “A”: Remove all cylinder stops (#9)
from hydraulic lift cylinder.
4. Start tractor and lower center deck and wing decks
fully down.
5. Shut tractor engine off, move tractor control lever
back and forth several times to release all hydraulic
pressure at the remote outlet, and remove switch key
before dismounting tractor.

WARNING
To prevent serious injury or death:
Hitch frame is heavy and can fall suddenly while rotating
hitch down into pulling position. Use hoist or other lifting
device to support hitch weight while rotating hitch down.
6. Remove and discard 1/2" nuts (#4) and bolts (#3).
7. Rotate hitch (#2) down into pulling position.
Refer to Figure 1-4:
8. Remove detent pin (#12) and rotate park jack (#11)
down to vertical position.

9. Fully insert detent pin (#12) to secure park jack (#11).
10. If park jack is not vertical, adjust jack angle according
to “Park Jack Angle Alignment” on page 22.
11. Adjust park jack height until hitch holes at the back of
hitch frame (#2) align with slots in leveling rods (#1).
12. Attach hitch frame (#2) to leveling rods (#1) by
inserting 3/4" x 1 1/2" clevis pins (#7) through
leveling rod’s outside clevis plate (#1), hitch
frame (#2), leveling rod’s inside clevis plate, and flat
washer (#5).
13. Insert 5/32" cotter pins (#6) in hole of clevis pins (#7).
Bend both legs of cotter pins around clevis pin to
keep flat washers and clevis pins from falling out.
14. Make sure spring support loop (#8) is securely
fastened to the hitch frame and fastener hardware is
properly tightened.
15. Disconnect hydraulic hose (#10) from tractor remote
outlet.
16. Route hydraulic hose (#10) through hose spring
support loop (#8).
17. Lay hose (#10) and quick release coupler on the deck
for attaching to the tractor later.
IMPORTANT: Clevis pins (#7) must be inserted from
outside of hitch frame as shown for leveling rods to
operate without interference. If necessary, lengthen
leveling rods to install clevis pins. See
“Center Deck
Leveling” on page 22 for instructions on how to
lengthen leveling rods.
