Tractor Requirements
Tractor horsepower should be within the range noted
below. Tractors outside the horsepower range must not
be used.
Required Horsepower Rating
GS1548. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 20 to 50 horsepower
GS1560. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 25 to 50 horsepower
GS1572. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 25 to 50 horsepower

WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Lightweight tractors with rear attached implements may need
weights added to the front to maintain steering control.
Consult your tractor Operator’s Manual to determine proper
weight requirements and maximum weight limitations.
Torque Requirements
Refer to
“Torque Values Chart”
on page 18 to determine
correct torque values for common bolts.
Hitch Assembly
Refer to Figure 1-1 on page 6:
Channel brace (#3) is shipped with mounting hardware
(#4, #6A, #6B, #7, & #8) installed in the correct location in
the channel. Remaining hardware is shipped in the bag.
1.
Attach channel brace (#3) to rear mounting lugs with
3/4"-10 x 5" GR5 cap screw (#6B), lock washer (#8),
and hex nut (#7). Do not tighten bolt at this time.
2. Remove hairpin cotter (#9), hitch pin (#10), bolt (#6A)
and spacer (#4) from hitch straps (#1 & #2). Keep
removed hardware for reuse.
3. Orient hitch straps (#1 & #2) with top hitch hole
straight above bottom hole. See “Left Side View”.
4. Attach hitch straps (#1 & #2) to rear holes in clevis
plates with 3/4"-10 x 2" GR5 cap screws (#5), lock
washers (#8), and hex nuts (#7). Do not tighten bolts
at this time.
5. Attach channel brace (#3) and spacer (#4) to hitch
straps (#1 & #2) as shown with 3/4"-10 x 5" GR5 cap
screw (#6A), lock washer (#8), and hex nut (#7). Do
not tighten bolt nut at this time.
6. Tighten all 3/4" bolts (#5, #6A, & #6B) to the correct
torque.
7.
Install 3/4" x 3 3/4" clevis pin (#10) to hitch straps and
secure in place with hairpin cotter (#9).
Shank Assembly (Optional)
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Make adjustments to the implement after it has been properly
attached to a tractor and secured with solid non-concrete
supports in the up position. Never work around or under
equipment supported by hydraulics. Hydraulics can drop
equipment instantly if controls are actuated or if hydraulic
lines burst even when power to hydraulics is shut off.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Always keep your body extremities out from under the
shanks while adjusting them. It is possible for the shanks to
fall causing injury to your feet and/or legs.
•
Keep clear of the shank slots while adjusting shank height.
Shanks can pinch body parts in the slots during adjustments.
Refer to Figure 1-1 on page 6:
1.
Before installing shanks (#13), attach Grading
Scraper to the tractor’s 3-point hitch or raise front of
scraper up and support it with blocks.
2. Remove shanks (#13) from shipping crate and insert
them into the main beam with tips pointing forward.
3. Secure shanks with lock pins (#11) and
hair pins (#12).
4. See
setting shank depth.
Tractor Shutdown Procedure
The following are basic tractor shutdown procedures.
Follow these procedures and any additional shutdown
procedures provided in your tractor Operator’s Manual
before leaving the operator’s seat.
1.
Reduce engine speed and disengage power take-off
if engaged.
2. Park tractor and implement on level, solid ground.
3. Lower implement to ground or onto non-concrete
support blocks.
4. Put tractor in park or set park brake, turn off engine,
and remove switch key to prevent unauthorized
starting.
5. Relieve all hydraulic pressure to auxiliary hydraulic
lines.
6. Wait for all components to come to a complete stop
before leaving the operator’s seat.
7.
Use steps, grab-handles and anti-slip surfaces when
stepping on and off the tractor.
