THE UNBALANCED OUTPUT
This output is situated on the rear panel and
equipped with a TRS type socket. It is located
in parallel to the unbalanced inputs and
marked as "STEREO LINE OUT". Here the
unbalanced signal from the line inputs (BAL IN
L/R) is output which may be used e. g. for
daisy chaning multiple F399 units.

THE AMPLIFIERS
Each module is equipped with two independent
stereo amplifiers. They are optimized to
operate headphones with lowest noise and
lowest distortions. They are long-term short-
circuit proteced and temperature monitored.
The detection of clipping or high temperature is
signalised by the red "CLIP/TEMP"-LED above
the respective volume control.
To adapt the amplifiers to different headphone
characteristics the overall gain may be shifted
from +8 dB to +20 dB. Please refer to page 19.
HINT:
Ex works the gain is fixed to +8 dB.
VOLUME CONTROL
The volume control pot determines the
headphone volume for both left and right
channel.
BALANCE CONTROL
The "BALANCE"-pot operates as a common
balance control. In the detented center
position, the stereo signal passes without any
attenuation. Turning the knob clockwise
attenuates the left channel, turning it counter-
clockwise attenuates the right channel.
THE HEADPHONES OUTPUTS
Both stereo amplifers of a module offer two
stereophonic headphone outputs. Each is
equipped with a standard 1/4" socket.
Both sockets may be controlled by a push-
button switch with the function "STEREO" and
"SPLIT".
