Receiver Testing
Receiver LEDs: Laird 23 Series receivers use three basic LEDs for diagnostics.
LED Indicators
Receiver Action
PWR lit.
Receiver operating voltage is present.
SIGNAL flashes.
Signal being received matches the decoder’s address.
RELAY lit.
One or more command outputs are energized.

Receiver Troubleshooting
Follow these steps when troubleshooting the receiver:
Check the PWR indicator; if PWR is not lit:
1.
a.
Check that the power source to the receiver is active.
b.
If applicable, check the fuse for the receiver power input.
Turn on the transmitter.

a.
If the receiver SIGNAL indicator remains off, test the transmitter.
b.
Verify the ID Code is the same for the transmitter and receiver.
c.
Verify transmitter batteries are fresh.
If only some functions are operating:

a.
Check output voltage of the respective relays and electrical circuits.
b.
If applicable, replace fuse on the receiver circuit board.
c.
Check the condition of the transmitter switches.
If there is intermittent operation:

a.
Check all connections.
b.
Check antenna connections.
If the operating range is short:

a.
Check antenna connections.
b.
On new installations, verify the receiver antenna is properly placed. If necessary, use an
antenna mounting kit to relocate the antenna to a more favorable location.
