7 - ELECTRIC SYSTEM (ECOVIP)
Installation and removal of the auxiliary
battery
To install/remove the auxiliary battery, proceed as
follows.
Installation:
1) Make sure that all the appliances are disconnected
and the system is not energised.
2) House the battery inside the bay and fasten it by
the specific fasteners.
3) Connect the cables to the terminals, taking care to
respect polarities (red/positive - black/negative).
Removal:
1) Make sure that all the appliances are disconnected
and the system is not energised.
2) Disconnect the terminals from the battery poles,
taking care to protect the ends of the cables by the
specific caps.
3) Unlock the fasteners for battery positioning and
remove it.
• Bear in mind that the battery capacity is limited
and lowers considerably in winter.
• Disconnect the battery poles in case of mainte-
nance works on the electric system.
• In case the vehicle is not used for a long
time always disconnect the auxiliary battery by
means of the proper switch.
THINGS TO DO
• Do not overload the lines with electric optional
equipment.
• Do not leave the engine turned on when either
the engine battery or the auxiliary battery
terminals are disconnected (danger of short
circuit).
THINGS TO AVOID
Switch off all appliances and lamps before
connecting or disconnecting the auxiliary battery.
WARNING
If replacement of the auxiliary battery is required,
please only use batteries of the same type and
same characteristics of the battery originally
installed.
WARNING
For safety reasons, always protect the battery
poles and do not store metallic objects near the
batteries (danger of short circuit).
WARNING
If installing a second auxiliary battery, the
batteries cables must be positioned in such a
way that no hazards arise. The installation must
be performed by specialized personnel. Always
contact an authorised Laika workshop.
