The Problem
The drive is not recognized.
Questions To Ask
Possible Solutions
Check for an icon in
My Computer
(PCs) or on the
Desktop
(Macs).
Check the drive's power cable. Make
sure the Power LED is on.
Check both ends of the USB cable.
Disconnect them, wait 10 seconds,
and reconnect them. If the drive is still
not recognized, restart your computer
and try again.
Windows 98 SE & Me Users: Go to
Start > Settings > Control Panel >
System > Device Manager > SCSI
Controller >
click on the plus sign next
to the controller icon, and you should
see your device listed.
Windows 2000 Users: Go to Start >
Settings > Control Panel > System >
Hardware
tab >
Device Manager
but-
ton >
SCSI Controller
> click on the
plus sign next to the controller icon,
and you should see your device listed.
Does an icon for the drive appear on
the computer?
Is the drive powered up?
Are both ends of the USB cable
connected and properly seated?
Are the USB drivers installed correctly
and enabled
