7.3.5.16 DECON, Service sub menu.
This menu allows the setting up of the decontamination options for the cabinet if either the VHP (Vaporised Hydrogen
Peroxide) or Formaldehyde cycle software is installed. The software can be supplied as accessory Items No 6 or 7 from the
parts list.
Press ENTER top select the DECON sub menu. From the DECON menu the
selection is then VHP or FORMALIN, which can be selected by pressing the
ENTER button when displayed.
Press ENTER again to access this menu and VHP PULSE will be shown.
Enter this menu and input the fan speed and times for the pus mode using the appropriate buttons. The fan speed should be
set at around ⅔ of the REDUCED FAN SPEED number (See 6.3.5.5) (Set at Approx
60). Press ENTER to accept and move on to the next segment, which is for the Formalin program set up.
If the formalin cycle is not required, simply return to the main menu, or select it by pressing ENTER.
The recommended settings are:
Formaldehyde evaporation Formaldehyde Dwell time Ammonia Neutralization Ammonia Dwell time Exhaust /
Airing Press ENTER to select this cycle and follow the steps through the program to set up the full cycle.

Once the cycle is set, Press ENTER to log out and accept the settings. The cabinet will run on normal operation until the
DECON program is requested.
NOTE: Before carrying out a DECON cycle, ensure that the cabinet window, exhaust filter
(on re-circulating cabinets) and any cabinet penetrations such as holes in the side windows for
valves etc., are fully sealed with tape to prevent loss of fumigant to the laboratory.
NOTE 2: WARNING! Fumigation gasses are toxic and as such must be handled with the correct
precautions. Persons carrying out the fumigation process must be adequately trained and are advised to
wear appropriate personal protection equipment. During the fumigation cycle, a warning notice stating
“ CABINET BEING FUMIGATED – DO NOT USE” should be displayed on the front of the cabinet.
