2-5.1 ISDN
Pre-installation Requirements.
The ISDN pre-installation requirements apply to all STEs to be used for operation using ISDN.
2-5.1.1 Order
ISDN
Service
Contact your local facility telecom department or the service provider (Telephone Company) to order your
ISDN service.
STEP 1: Provide ISDN Ordering Codes or Line Options.
Give the service provider the following ISDN Ordering Codes (IOC): P, U, V, EZ ISDN-1, or EZ ISDN-1a
If the service provider does not offer these codes, you must order the ISDN service using the actual ISDN
line options listed below:
•
BRI with 2B+D (Basic Rate Interface with two 64 kbps Bearer channels and a 16 kbps Data
channel) Line Type.
•
CSV (Circuit Switched Voice) and CSD (Circuit Switched Data) must be enabled on both B
channels.
•
Hold, Conference, Transfer and Drop options (Flex Calling) must be enabled.
•
Caller ID (Automatic Number ID) function is optional but recommended.
•
Additional Call Offerings (ACOs)/Appearances must be at least three.
If you are using a Lucent 5ESS Switch
•
The line must be set for point-to-multipoint.
•
For Custom Mode, the Terminal Type must be set to “A”.

After the ISDN service order has been placed, the service provider should provide you with several
parameters (SPID, DN, etc.) required for configuring your STE. Make sure you record this and all other
information provided about your installation in
