Mount the STE on the Wall Mounting Plate then install the Handset as stated in Paragraph
2-4.2 Install
Handset
Insert the plug on one end of the Handset Cord into the RJ-11 socket located on the left side of the Office
or Tactical STE and the other end into the socket on the Handset. Make sure the plugs are properly
seated in both sockets. Place the Handset in the cradle.
Continue with the installation as stated in Paragraph
2-4.3
Connect the Console Terminal
When installing a CEU, STE-R, STE-RI, or STE-RT, a PC (desk set or laptop) must be connected to the
CONSOLE PORT to configure the STE and display messages. Refer to
for PC
requirements, the STE Toolset, and the STE Virtual Front Panel Tool and how its options apply to your
STE.
2-4.4 Connect
Power
NOTE
Please review the contents of Chapter 3 (
Controls,
Indicators and Interfaces
) prior to applying power.
Connect the STE Power Supply or user’s supply to the STE as follows:
1. If installing a CEU, STE-R, STE-RI, or STE-RT connect a PC to the console port and apply
power to it.
NOTE
If using other than the STE Power Supply, follow the directions provided with the
unit or site installation instructions, then proceed to step 4. Make sure to connect
the POWER PORT first.
2. Plug the power supply or user cable into the POWER PORT and tighten the fasteners.
3. After plugging the supply to the POWER PORT:
a. Plug the Power Supply Line Cord into the STE Power Supply.
b. Plug the Power Supply Line Cord into the wall outlet.
4. When you apply power, the Alphanumeric Display on the Front Panel of the Office or Tactical
STE will illuminate and the TERMINAL RESETTING message should appear (
you apply power to a CEU, STE-R, STE-RI, or STE-RT the Terminal Resetting message will
appear in the STE Virtual Front Panel on the console monitor (PC serving as the console
terminal). If the display is not as shown, verify your Power Supply is properly connected to the
STE and plugged into a powered wall receptacle. If a Portable Uninterrupted Power Supply
