Safety instructions

Connection and operation

■

Fitting a mains socket, repairing and servicing the appliance are jobs that
should be left to a qualified electrician according to valid safety regulations.
For your own safety, do not allow anyone other than a qualified service
technician to install, service or repair this appliance.

■

The surfaces of the heating and cooking zones become hot during use.
Therefore be careful: Always make sure that children are kept well away!

Hob

■

Overheated fats and oils may spontaneously ignite. Food involving the use
of fats and oils, e.g. chips, may only be cooked under supervision. Never
extinguish ignited fats and oils with water! Put the lid on the pan and switch
off the cooking zone.

■

If cracks, fractures or any other defects appear in your glass ceramic hob,
immediately switch off the appliance. Disconnect fuse immediately and call
the Customer service.

■

If the hob cannot be switched off due to a defect in the sensor control
immediately disconnect your appliance and call the Customer service.

■

Take care when working with attachments! The connecting cable must not
contact the hot cooking zones.

■

The glass ceramic hob should not be used as a storage area.

■

Do not place combustible or ignitable objects on the cooking area which
might be dangerous if the appliance is switched on unintentionally.

■

Do not switch the cooking zone on if not using it for cooking.Never use the
appliance to heat a room! This would result in improper operating
conditions.

■

Do not put kitchen foil or plastic onto the cooking zone. Keep everything
which could melt, such as plastics, foil and in particular sugar and sugary
foods away from the hot cooking zone. Remove sugar immediately from the
hob when it is still hot to avoid damage.

■

Avoid repeated burning of contaminations.

■

Lime deposits are harmful to the cooking zone.

Before using the appliance for
the first time

Remove packaging and non-essential components. Clean the glass ceramic
hob and the wok pan with a damp cloth or a soft brush and a little detergent
before they are used for the first time.

The hob is resistant against thermal shocks (coldness and heat) and also very
robust.

■

Always ensure that no hard objects are dropped onto the cooking surface.
Pointed objects falling onto your hob might break it.

■

Please observe the cleaning and servicing instructions. Be especially careful
to keep the sensor keys clean since soiling could be mistaken for finger
contact by the appliance. Never put anything (pans, tea towels etc.) onto
the sensor keys! If food boils over the wok-pan onto the sensor keys, we
advise you to activate the emergency switch.

■

When switching on the cooking zones a short buzzing noise may be heard
from the heating. This is design-specific and has no influence on quality
and operation.

Using the wok cooking zone

Please note the safety instructions!

Subsequent to initial connection and in the event of a power failure, the
controls will be tested automatically. When the automatic test is being
performed, a minus symbol lights up on the control. This symbol extinguishes
again once the test has been completed.

Important!

No objects must be lying on top of the sensors when adjusting the sensor’s
sensitivity.

Using the wok cooking zone

Cooking in the glass ceramic wok cavity

■

When cooking food in the wok cavity never use tools which could scratch
the glass ceramic surface.

■

The wok cavity should not be used for very sugary foodstuffs. High
temperatures cause the sugar to melt into the glass ceramic surface and
can damage it permanently. When cooking such foodstuffs it is essential
that the wok pan supplied be used.

This wok hob transmits heat directly to the food. Cooking directly in the wok
cavity on the glass ceramic surface enables a highly economical use of
cooking fats. Gentle, low-fat cooking preserves vital vitamins and minerals.

– Pre-heat the wok cavity for 5-7 minutes with the lid (of the wok pan) so

that the heat is distributed better and more evenly.

– Always pre-heat with the setting that will subsequently be used for cooking.

Frying / browning

– Use cooking setting 9 for browning small pieces of meat.

– Use cooking setting 6-7 for frying whole pieces of meat such as steaks,

cevapcici or chicken drumsticks or for frying fritters.

F

After frying your meat you can make gravy by pouring some liquid into
the wok cavity in order to dissolve the meat juices.

Steaming

– Do not pour more than ½ liter of water into the wok cavity.

– Put the food to be cooked, e.g. 2 trout, into a special basket and place the

basket above the water in the wok cavity .

– Put the lid on and bring the water to the boil at setting 9.

Then turn the pan down to setting 3-4.

Braising

– The setting should not be higher than 4-5.

Using the wok pan

■

Never cut or scrape anything in the wok pan with knives or any other sharp
gadgets. This could damage the coating.

■

No foreign bodies or dirt must be allowed to get between the wok pan and
the hob because they can damage the surface.

■

Do not overheat the wok pan when it is empty.

Only use the wok pan made of high-quality, coated cast aluminium which is
supplied. It fits exactly into the wok cavity, enabling heat to be optimally
utilized.

F

Should you require a replacement wok pan or its glass lid or wish to have
two pans and lids, please contact your dealer or customer service.
