Homemade Pizza Dough
Ingredients
1 ½ cups warm water
2 tsp dried yeast
3 ½ cups plain flour
2 tbsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
Method
1. Place the flour, yeast and salt into a large bowl and mix well.
2. Make a well in the centre of the flour, yeast and salt mixture, then add the water and olive oil.
The water needs to be warm to activate the yeast and encourage it to grow. If the water is too
hot it can kill the yeast. Use a wooden spoon to stir until combined and then use your hands
to bring the dough together in the bowl. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky.
3. Move the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 3 minutes or until the dough is
almost smooth. If the dough seems a little too wet then sprinkle a bit more flour.
4. Place the ball of dough in a bowl that has been coated lightly with olive oil. Turn the dough
around in the bowl so that it gets coated with the oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit in a
warm place (ideally 30°C) until it doubles in size (approx. 1 – 1.5 hours).
