Section 1: Assembly & Set-Up
Skid Steer/Tractor Requirements
The SGR Series Rock Grapples are designed to attach to
a universal quick attach mounting system. Consult the
skid steer or tractor Operator’s Manual for operating
capacity, lifting capacity, and operating specifications.
They will vary from unit to unit. Do not exceed the rated
capacities and specifications of the skid steer or tractor.

Before You Start
Make sure that the intended skid steer/tractor conforms
to the requirements provided on this page. Also, read and
understand this Operator’s Manual for your Rock
Grapple. An understanding of how it works will aid in its
assembly and set-up.
Go through the
before assembling the Rock Grapple. To speed up your
assembly task and make the job safer, have all needed
parts and equipment readily at hand.
Pre-Assembly Checklist
Check
Referenc
Have a fork lift or loader with properly sized chains and safety
stands capable of lifting and supporting the equipment on hand.
Have a minimum of two people available during assembly.
Make sure all major components and loose
parts are shipped with the machine.
Assembly
& Set-up
Double check to make sure all parts, fasteners,
and pins are installed in the correct location.
Refer to the Parts Manual if unsure.
NOTE:
All assembled hardware from the factory
has been installed in the correct location.
Remember location of a part or fastener if
removed. Keep parts separated.

Make sure working parts move freely, bolts are
tight & cotter pins are spread.

Make sure all grease fittings are in place and
lubricated.
Make sure all safety labels are correctly located
and legible. Replace if damaged.
Torque Requirements
Refer to
“Torque Values Chart”
on page 24 to determine
correct torque values when tightening hardware.
Customer Supplied Hose Hook-up
Hydraulic hoses with fabric sleeves (#17 & #18),
adapters (#20) or elbows (#19), and couplers (#21 & #22)
are customer supplied as they will vary depending upon
which machine the grapple is attached.
To attach customer supplied hoses in the middle:
1.
Remove locknuts (#4), carriage bolts (#2 & #3) and
cover (#1).
2.
Remove caps (#5) from fittings (#6B & #7B).
3.
Attach customer supplied hoses to the 3/4" MJIC
fittings (#6B & #7B).
4.
Replace cover (#1) and secure with carriage bolts
(#2 & #3) and locknuts (#4). Tighten locknuts to the
correct torque for 5/16-18 GR5 bolts.
To attach customer supplied hoses on the Left side:
1.
Remove plugs (#8) from fittings (#6A & #7A).
2.
Attach customer supplied hoses to the 9/16" FJIC
swivel nuts (#6A & 7A).
3.
Secure customer supplied hoses behind 1/4"-20
GR5 bolt (#17) and Nylock nut (#16). Tighten Nylock
nut to the correct torque.
Optional Hydraulic Hose Hook-up
Refer to Figure 1-1 on page 9:
Upon request, you can purchase an optional hydraulic
hose kit from Kubota for hooking up hydraulics to the skid
steer on the left hand side of the grapple.
