Preparatory work

Raise the rear of the motorcycle with lifting gear. (

Remove the rear wheel.

–
Remove the rear sprocket carrier.

Check the rear hub for damage and wear.
» If the rear hub cush drive is damaged or worn:
–
Change the rubber damper.

Position the rear sprocket carrier.

A set of bolts and shock absorbers should have as little free travel as possible to
increase the service life of the shock absorbers.
Finishing work
–
Install the rear wheel.
–
Remove the rear of the motorcycle from the lifting gear. (
–
Check the chain tension. (

Checking the tire condition
Warning
Danger of accidents
Uncontrollable vehicle handling in the event of a flat tire.

In the interest of safety, replace damaged or worn tires immediately. (Your authorized KTM workshop will be pleased to help.)

Danger of crashing
Poor vehicle handling due to different tire tread patterns on front and rear wheels.
–
The front and rear wheels must be fitted with tires with similar tread patterns to prevent loss of control over the vehicle.
