Operation anomalies
The pump does not move the fluid
| Insufficient flow
| | Excessive absorbed power
| | | Excessive vibrations and noise
| | | | Excessive bearings temperature
| | | | | Loss of fluid through the mechanical seal or lip seal
| | | | | | The bearing bushes or gears deteriorate quickly

Cause
Solution
X X
Suction or impulsion valves closed or suction or relief valves
incorrectly regulated
Open them or fully open the suction valve,
check the relief valve regulation pressure.
X
Incorrect rotation direction
Change the motor connections
X X
Air comes in through the suction pipe or sealing system.
Check the seal tightness of the pipe or
dismount the seal system and check it.
X
Pump or suction pipe poorly primed
Correctly prime the pipe by positioning vent
connections in the highest points. Prime the
pump.
X
Relief valve incorrectly calibrated.
Correctly regulate the valve (technical service)
X
Rotation speed incorrect
Measure the speed, check the motor drive
power supply voltage
X
Poorly primed
Refill the pump and pipes and carefully
discharge the air
X
Pipe obstruction
Clean the pipes
X X
X
Gears deteriorated or incorrectly assembled.
Dismount gears and inspect them, change
them or correct assembly
X
Liquid viscosity, pressure or density greater than shown
Change the motor for a superior one if
necessary
Poor alignment between the pump and motor
Align the coupling
X
Obstruction inside the pump or installation
Dismount the pump and clean
Ball bearings deteriorated, poorly assembled or poorly
lubricated
Check them, check the assembly or lubricate
them, or adjust them properly in their positions.
X
Excessive contact in rotating parts
Dismount the pump and check its elements are
correctly assembled
X
X
Misaligned or deformed shaft
Dismount it and replace it
Pipe tensions on the pump
Reinforce the pipes and level the equipment
X
Lack of rigidity in the foundations or anchor bolts loose
Make new foundations or tighten the bolts
X X
Pump cavitation
Improve the suction. Please ask.
X
Insufficient pipe diameters
Larger diameter pipes, whenever possible
X
Poorly assembled coupling, without suitable separation
between its two parts
Check the coupling
X
Very deteriorated mechanical seal, seal spring broken or
without elasticity, poorly assembled seal, or joints broken,
deformed or without elasticity.
Dismount and replace the seal, or dismount,
review damage and change as appropriate.
X
Incorrect assembly of the same
Dismount, check for damage and change the
seal if necessary
X
Breakage or deterioration of the lip seal
Dismount and replace the seal
X
Presence of solids in the fluid
Install a suitable filter
