After about 4-5 minutes, the boiler pressure
has built up. At the safety valve small bubbles
appear, then the engine is ready.
Attention ! The boiler, the pipes and the
machine are or will become very hot. Risk
of injury!
5. Open the steam valve
Turn the steam valve anti-clockwise to open
the steam supply to the machine.
Turn the crank shaft on the flywheel counter-
clockwise. First, condensate passes through
the cylinder until this has reached operating
temperature. Then the machine will run
independently.
The speed of the engine can be adjusted on
the handwheel. The faster the machine runs,
the more steam it consumes. When operating
in a boat, the speed is regulated by the
counter pressure of the propeller in the water.
Turn the steam tap fully.
6. Remove the exhaust steam
The exhaust steam pipe can be bent upwards
towards the chimney, so that a small steam
cloud is visible on the top. If, at the beginning,
the exhaust line is left upwards, the
condensed steam will rain over the machine
and boat and makes it dirty. It would be better
to pass the first exhaust steam into a vessel or
via an exhaust steam condenser (accessory).
7. Drain the remaining water
At the beginning it was instructed to fill 4
syringes per 5 ccm of water into the boiler.
This contains a safety margin so that the
boiler is not damaged. After operating and
cooling the boiler, the drain plug should be
opened to drain the remaining water. To do
this, open the filling screw with the safety
valve for venting.
