Installation
4.1.
Hardware Installation
Before installing the CP347 in a CompactPCI backplane slot, read this installation chapter thoroughly for guidelines on
positioning, installing and removing the board.
The CP347’s front panel should be safely secured by screwing the front panel to the chassis to avoid loosening of the
board through vibration and to ensure an adequate earth connection.
ESD Sensitive Device!
This CompactPCI board contains electrostatic sensitive devices. Observe the necessary
precautions to avoid damage to your board:
•
Discharge your clothing before touching the assembly.
•
Discharge tools before use.
•
Do not touch components, connector pins or traces.
•
If working at an anti-static workbench, use the professional discharging equipment.
Board Location in the System
4.1.1.
It is possible to install the CP347 in any CompactPCI backplane slot except for the system master slot. Consider the
board’s location within a system carefully. Factors such as the number of CP347 boards, their locations in a given
system, and the operating system in use, may cause applications to have difficulty identifying boards properly. This
includes board replacement, board movement to another slot, and other possible configuration changes to the initial
system.
If the position of the board is changed, verify the proper operation of the system before putting the system into
operation.
When configuring a system, install all boards in the system prior to installing drivers or
other board related software. Failure to do so may result in the non-identification of a given
board or boards.
Hot Swap Capabilities
4.1.2.
The CP347 is not hot swappable. Read the following caution notice carefully before installing or removing the CP347
from a system.
CP347 Not Hot Swappable
Switch off the CompactPCI system power before installing a board classified as not hot-
swap capable in a free CompactPCI slot. Failure to do so could result in personal injury and
may damage your board or system.
