6 BIOS Operation
The module is equipped with AMI® Aptio, which is located in an onboard SPI serial flash memory.
6.1
Determining the BIOS Version
The AMI® Aptio version is displayed in the main menu of the setup utility.

Updating the BIOS
Modules with BIOS region only inside the flash can be updated with AFU utilities (usually 2-4MB BIOS binary file size)
directly. Modules with Management Engine, Ethernet, Flash Descriptor and other options additionally to the BIOS region
(usually 8MB BIOS binary file size) requires a different update process with Intel Flash Utility FPT and a wrapper to backup
and restore configurations and the MAC address. Therefore it is strongly recommended to use the batch file inside the
BIOS download package available on EMD Customer Section.
» Boot the module to DOS/EFI Shell with access to the BIOS image and Firmware Update Utility provided on EMD
Customer Section
» Execute Flash.bat in DOS or Flash.nsh in EFI Shell if included
Once a complete BIOS image is flashed to the onboard or external SPI flash you can update the BIOS region on all modules
by using
» afudos.exe BIOS.rom /P /B /N /X /K in DOS
» afuefix64.efi BIOS.bin /P /B /N /X /K in EFI Shell
» Afuwin utility in Windows XP/Vista/7
Please do not use /K Option on modules based on Intel® Core Technology
