Operation

Features of the front and rear panel.

1. INPUT

  Plug in your guitar here.

2. GAIN

  Adjusts the distortion level. Technically,

it controls the strength of the input signal of
the 12AX7-tube preamplifier. As the signal level
rises, the typical harmonic tube distortion is
produced.

3. TONE

The tone control adjusts the tone from

very bassy and dull in the left-most position, to
high and snappy when it is fully turned up.

4. REVERB

Adds the built-in spring reverb effect

continously.

5. VOLUME

  The master-control adjusts the

volume. The “master-volume” controls the out-
put volume of the EL84-tube amplifier. This, in
turn is influenced by the position of the POWER
SELECT switch (see 7.).

6.  POWER INDICATOR

If this LED is lit, the

amplifier is switched on.

7.  STANDBY/POWER SELECT

  This switch has

3 functions. It controls the output power of your
KONG TubeFive. If it points upwards, the ampli-
fier has an output power of 5 watts. If the switch
points down, the output power is reduced to
1 Watt. This setting is recommended, e. g. for
use as a practice amplifier in living rooms, or for
recording.

When switched to 1-Watt mode the power amp
will create the typical harmonic tube saturation
even at a very low volume level.

In the center position, the standby mode is
activated.

8. POWER

  On/off switch

9.  AC INPUT

  The amplifier’s power cable is

connected here.

10. FUSE

When replacing the fuse please pay

attention to the correct value (indicated on the
case).

11.  SPEAKER OUTPUTS

  Here you can optionally

connect external (2 x 16, 1 x 8 or 1 x 16 Ω) spea-
kers. The built-in 8 Ω loudspeaker is connected
as standard. Always make sure that you have
chosen the correct impedance and never ope-
rate the amplifier without connected loudspea-
kers, as this could lead to major damage to the
device!

12. FX LOOP SEND/RETURN

  This is the effect

loop of your KONG TubeFive. It is located in the
circuit between the amplifier’s input and output
stages. Delay-Effects (e. g. KONG Delay-Lay) or
modulation effects (e. g. KONG Choir-Vette) can
be placed between preamp and power amp.
Some effetcs just sound better when they are
“fed” with an already amplified signal (this signal
comes from the effects send jack). It’s recom-
