• Never turn the key in the starting switch to OFF position
when the machine is traveling downhill. If the engine stops
when the machine is traveling, it may become impossible
to operate the steering, and this may cause serious per-
sonal injury or death. If the engine stops, depress the
brake pedal immediately to stop the machine.
• Keep the work equipment approximately 20 to 30 cm
above the ground. In case of emergency, lower the work
equipment to the ground immediately to help stop the ma-
chine.
• Always drive the machine straight up or down a slope.
Driving the machine at an angle or across the slope is extremely dangerous.
• Do not turn on slopes or drive across slopes. Always go down to a flat place to change the position of the
machine, then drive it on to the slope again.
• Do not drive the machine on a slope covered with the steel plates. Even with slight slopes there is a hazard
that the machine may slip.
• Drive the machine at low speed on the grass or fallen leaves. Even with slight slopes, there is a hazard that
the machine may slip.
• When traveling downhill, never shift gear or place the transmission at neutral. Engine brake does not work
and dangerous. Always set the transmission to a low gear before starting to travel downhill.
• Depress the brake pedal or use the engine brake as necessary.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN OPERATING ON SLOPES
When you perform the work on a slope, make sure that the machine is stable. If the machine is not stable, there
is a danger of such as falling or side slide that can cause serious personal injury or death. If the machine is not
stable, lower the work equipment once, and stop the work. Perform operation according to the following precau-
tions.
• Perform operation when the machine is set with safe angles, and the machine is stable.
• It is dangerous if you travel with high speed while performing operation on a slope. Travel with low speed.
• It is dangerous if you perform operation on an uneven slope because the balance of the machine becomes
bad. Travel with low speed.
• Do not cross the slope. Perform operation along the slope, either traveling straight in upper direction, or
traveling straight in lower direction.
• The machine might slip in the rocky place. Avoid an operation with the heavy load. Pay attention to the sur-
rounding of the machine.
• Avoid slipping of the track for operation. The machine slips easily sideways.
• If you perform the work on slope newly filled, it may collapse by the weight of the machine, and the machine
may roll over. Be careful.
• The balance of the machine deteriorate depending on the attachment which is installed. Be careful.
• If you perform operation when performing towing, the machine is unstable and it is dangerous.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN OPERATING MACHINE
• Be careful not to approach too close to the edge of cliffs. When making embankments or landfills, or when
dropping soil over a cliff, dump one pile, then use the next pile of soil to push the first pile.
• The load suddenly becomes lighter when the soil is pushed over a cliff or when the machine reaches the
top of a slope. When this happens, there is danger that the travel speed will suddenly increase, so be sure
to reduce the speed.
• If the machine moves with only either side of the blade loaded, its tail may swing. Take care.
METHOD OF USING BRAKES
• Do not put your foot on the brake pedal unnecessarily. If the machine travels with your foot on the brake
pedal, the brake operates constantly and heats abnormally, and is disabled and that can cause an accident.
