Symbols used
• In order to ensure safe use, carefully read the following
instructions.
• Also consult the safety information provided in the manual
supplied with the machine or application on which the engine
is installed.
• This manual contains safety notices.
• Read and understand them.
Below are the safety notices used in this manual to highlight
precautions or safety information which, if not observed, can
result in personal injury or damage to property.
Danger
• Indicates a situation which, if not avoided, will result in death
or serious injury or in serious damage to property.
Important
• Indicates technical information which it is advisable to follow.
Caution
• Indicates a situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor
or moderate injury or damage.
• Do not mix petrol or kerosene with diesel. Failure to respect
this prohibition will severely damage the catalytic converter
and result in a non-compliance with the emissions declared
by
Valdinoci Luigi S.p.A
.
• Pay attention to the oil filter temperature during replacement.
• Checking, filling, and replacement of the coolant must take
place with the engine off and when it has reached the ambient
temperature. The coolant is a pollutant and must be disposed
of with respect for the environment.
• Do not use jets of air and water at high pressure on the wiring,
connectors, and injectors.
• Accidental start-up of the engine can cause serious personal
injury or death. Before any intervention on the engine or
equipment, disconnect the negative cable (-) from the
battery.
• The hot parts can cause serious burns. The parts of the
engine can overheat during operation. Avoid touching the
engine if it is in operation or immediately after it has been
turned off. Do not operate the engine without the thermal
guards or safety covers.
• The rotating parts can cause serious personal injury. Keep
a safe distance from the engine in operation. Keep hands,
feet, hair, and clothing away from all moving parts to avoid
personal injury. Never operate the engine without the casings
or safety covers.
• Carbon monoxide can cause nausea, fainting or death.
Never operate the engine in closed or confined areas to
prevent breathing in exhaust gases (carbon monoxide).
Carbon monoxide is a poisonous, odourless, and colourless
compound that can have lethal effects if inhaled.
• Fluids at high pressure can penetrate the skin and cause
serious or lethal injury. Interventions on the fuel system must
only be carried out by adequately trained personnel wearing
the prescribed personal protective equipment. Fluid injection
injuries can have a highly toxic effect and are dangerous. In
case of injury, immediately seek medical advice.
• The explosive fuel could cause fires and serious burns.
The fuel is extremely flammable and if there are sparks its
vapours can ignite and cause explosions. Only store fuel in
certified containers, in ventilated, uninhabited buildings and
away from open flames or sparks. Do not fill the fuel tank
when the engine is hot or running in order to keep any fuel
that may have leaked from catching fire when it comes in
contact with hot parts or sparks generated by the ignition
system. Do not start the engine near fuel that has leaked
during filling. Never use fuel for cleaning purposes.
• The explosive gas could cause fires and serious burns.
Only charge the batteries in a well-ventilated area. Keep the
battery away from sparks, open flames, and other ignition
sources. While recharging, the batteries produce explosive
hydrogen. Keep the batteries out of reach of children. Remove
all metallic jewellery before working around batteries. Before
disconnecting the negative cable (-), make sure all of the
switches are in the OFF position. Otherwise, sparks could
be created on the ground cable with the risk of explosion.
• An electric shock can cause serious personal injury. Do not
touch electrical wires when the engine is running.
• Exhaust emitted by the engine of this product contain
chemicals that, according to the laws in the State of
California, are known to cause cancer, birth defects or
reproductive harm.
