SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL IN GAS ENGINES

1. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this information is to define the noise emission levels in
Kohler
gas engines.
2. ACOUSTIC DEFINITIONS
Decibel
Logarithmic unit that relates an energy magnitude with another, similar, magnitude accepted as a reference.
Sound power
Energy that a sound source emits to the surrounding medium by time unit.
Sound pressure
Atmospheric pressure variations at one point, produced by the propagation of a sound wave.
3. NOISE EMISSION AT 1200 RPM
The following table shows the
sound pressure
distribution in octave frequency bands and the total sound level
with the engine running continuously at
1200 rpm and at 100% power.
