Troubleshooting the printer

4-16

October 1997

15. Remove the tray.

16. Remove the prepared pad holder from the tray.

17. Load the media into the tray and put the lid back on.

18. Insert the tray in the printer.

IMPORTANT:Wait about five minutes for the rollers to dry before using

the printer.

Cleaning the sensors

Important: Before cleaning, turn off the printer.

Follow these steps to clean the five ribbon sensors in the printer.

1. Locate the two sensors on top of and in the center of the print head.

They will be visible behind the ribbon.

2. Remove the ribbon.

3. Wipe the sensors with an alcohol pad.

4. Replace the ribbon.

5. To locate the next two sensors, look above where a finished print

comes out and you will see a steel plate with some fringe. At the
center of the plate about one inch back, down the slope is an oval
cut out with the two receiver sensors.

6. Wipe the sensors with an alcohol pad.

7. To locate the fifth sensor, look at the lower, supply, ribbon spool. On

the left hand side is a bar-code label. Immediately above the bar-
code label is a black box with some wires coming out of it. The
sensor is located on the bottom of that box (the side of the box that
faces the bar-code label.)

8. Using an alcohol pad, clean the sensor area.
