Before the first use
Carefully unpack the waffle maker and remove all packaging.
When using for the first time, wipe the surface of the grids with a damp cloth, then wipe dry.
Place the appliance on a heat resistant surface. Make sure the appliance is closed, plug the appliance
in and let it preheat.
The protective coating burn off might result in smoke and a slight odor on first use. However, this does
not indicate any defect of the appliance. After about 30 seconds the smoke will disappear and you will
be able to use the appliance normally. This smoke is NOT harmful.

Operation
Place on a heat resistant surface. Make sure the appliance is closed, plug the appliance in and let it preheat.
The red power light (2) and the green Ready light (3) will come on, to indicate that the appliance is plugged
in and that it is heating.
Set the thermostat to the desired setting (turning the dial (1) all the way clockwise being the hottest setting).
The green temperature pilot light (3) will stay on, to indicate the appliance is warming up. When the green
pilot light goes off, it means that the desired temperature is reached.
Note:
During cooking, the green light will go on and off. It is normal and indicates a proper function of the
thermostat regulating the temperature of the appliance.
Caution:
during the operation, the appliance becomes hot. Be careful as you might get burned. Please only use
the handle to manipulate the appliance. Wear oven mitts. Avoid touching the housing and never touch the cooking
plates with your bare hands.
Wearing oven mitts, open the waffle maker and lightly brush the grids with some butter, margarine or
cooking oil. The use of a non-stick oil cooking spray is recommended for best results.
Pour the batter evenly into the bottom plate,
but not all the way to the edges, and close the appliance.
Note:
the batter will expand during cooking, so adding too much batter might result in the batter overflowing
from the grids.
Press the lid down for a moment to spread the batter evenly on the baking plate.
Note:
Some steam might be produced from between the plates; make sure that fingers do not come into
contact with it.
Bake the waffle until golden brown. If necessary, adjust the temperature by turning the thermostat according
to the desired browning level or crispiness you wish to obtain.
When the waffles are ready, wearing oven mitts, open the lid of the waffle maker and remove the waffle with
a plastic or wooden spatula, or by inserting a fork from the sides of the waffle. Never use any sharp metallic
objects, as this might damage the non-stick coating. Do not use your bare hands to avoid scalding.
The shape of the waffle makes it easy to separate into 4 portions if desired.
When baking is finished, unplug the appliance and leave it open to allow it to cool down.
Note:
It is easy to reheat a waffle. Just place it back into the grids still warm, and select a medium heat to
reheat, or minimum heat setting to keep the waffle warm.
!! TO AVOID SCALDING, WAIT UNTIL THE APPLIANCE HAS TOTALLY COOLED DOWN BEFORE CLEANING
OR STORING AWAY.
