4.9.3 Clearance of crankshaft oil film and connecting rod big end

Remove the engine oil on the surface of journal.

Set plastic line gauge on the journal and install the connecting rod. Tighten the connecting rod bolts
to the specified torque (14-16 Nm.). Do not rotate the crankshaft when tightening.

Remove the connecting rod and measure the thickness of plastic line gauge.

）
If clearance exceeds the service limit, replace the connecting rod and re-measure the clearance. If
the clearance still exceeds the service limit after replacing the rod, polish the crankshaft journal and use
an oversize connecting rod.
