How a new tractor is handled and main-
tained determines the life of the tractor.
A new tractor just off the factory pro-
duction line has of course been tested,
but the various parts are not accustomed
to each other, therefore care should be
taken to operate the tractor for the first
50 hours at a slower speed and avoid
excessive work or operation until the
various parts become “broken-in.”. The
manner in which the tractor is handled
during the “breaking-in.” period greatly
affects the life of your tractor. Therefore,
to obtain the maximum performance and
the longest life of the tractor, it is very
i m p o r t a n t t o p r o p e r l y b r e a k - i n y o u r
tractor.
OPERATING NEW TRACTOR
- Walk around inspection.
- Check the engine oil level
- Check the transmission oil level
- Check the coolant level
- Clean the grill and radiator screen.
- Check the air cleaner and evacuator
valve.
- Check the brake pedal
- Check all dash gauges and indicators
- Check head lights, tail lights, and all
working lights.
- Check accessible wiring harness for
any damage.
- Check the seat belt and ROPS for
damage.
- Refuel (See “daily check” in the peri-
odic service section)
- Check all danger and warning labels.
PRE-OPERATION CHECK
It is a good practice to know the condi-
tion of your tractor before you start it.
You should do routine check before each
use.
DAILY CHECK ITEM

To avoid personal injury:
Be sure to check and service the
tractor on a level surface with the
engine shut off and the parking
brake “ENGAGED”.
