01 Water Hardness
The water softener is designed to remove minerals such as calcium carbonate from the water supply, which
would have a detrimental effect on the operation of the appliance. The higher the content of these minerals,
the harder the water is. The softener should be adjusted according to the hardness of the water in your area.
Please contact your local water utility company for the hardness of the water in your area.
Setting the water hardness
The appliance water hardness can be set from H1 (very soft) to H6 (very hard).
Dishwasher salt is not required for very soft water at H1.
1. Determine the water hardness from your local water utility company. This information is often found on
their website by searching with your post code.
2. There are many different methods for reporting water hardness dependent on your local country. The
most common versions are found in the Water Hardness table below.
3. Determine the correct appliance setting (H1 - H6) from the Water Hardness Table using the information
from your local water utility company. If your water hardness scale is not captured in the table,
conversion charts are available on the internet.
4. Open the door.
5. Press the Power button to turn on the appliance.
6. Within one minute of turning on the power, press the Program button [P] for more than five seconds to
enter the Water Hardness mode. H3 is the factory default setting.
7. Press the Program button [P] to cycle though the settings H1 - H6 until this matches your local water
supply and press [P] again to store the setting.
