N4374B Lightwave Component Analyzer, User’s Guide
If you have already characterized the device and have a .s2p
file, for “Deembedding Data”, select “File”, and enter or select
the file.
• For accurate measurements, you can also include the
optical path in the test circuit without the DUT, and select
“Measure” (or “Load”) for User Calibration.
8 Decide what sort of calibration you need.
• If for “User Calibration”, you select “None”, the LCA uses
the factory default calibration.
• The factory calibration ensures the uncertainty specified,
but particularly for improved results at lower frequencies,
we recommend an extra calibration. In this case, for “User
Calibration”, select “Measure”.
• If you want to reuse and existing, saved calibration, for
“User Calibration”, select “Load”, and select the file from
the Windows Explorer window.
9 Click
to start the measurement preparation.
If you are calibrating, when the following screen is displayed,
make sure the optical output is connected to the optical input
using the patchcord supplied.
The patchcord has the following part number:
• Single-mode angled/angled connector: N4373-87906
• Single-mode angled/straight connector: N4373-87907

Optical path and electrical path deembedding is not applied during a user
calibration.
