Getting Started

First, understand the basic operation of the Distribution Amplifier.
The KD-SCDA8 Distribution Amplifier allows you to take a Composite
Video baseband signal, and/or an S-Video signal, and distribute it to
up to eight (8) separate destinations.  The high-quality and state-of-
the-art electronic circuitry inside each Distribution Amplifier unit pro-
vides crystal-clear distribution from the source (Input) to up to eight
(8) or more destinations (up to 300 feet away).  Of course, the signal
quality at the destination is always limited by the quality of your
input signal.

Your KD-SCDA8 Distribution Amplifier can simultaneously distribute
Composite Video and S-Video, because there are separate
Input/Output jacks for EACH format.  Also, separate Left and Right
stereo analog audio jacks are provided, which allow you to drive one
input audio pair to up to eight (8) destinations.  You may substitute
digital PCM audio for the Left and Right analog audio.
The unit runs on an external power supply, included with your unit.

An intelligent feature of your KD-SCDA8 Distribution Amplifier is the
“Throughput” output port.  The “Throughput” output looks just like the
other eight (8) outputs from your DA — indeed it can be used as an
additional output, bringing the total distribution to nine (9) outputs.
However, if you need to “daisy-chain” (cascade) multiple Distribution
Amplifier units, then the “Throughput” output can be used as the
“Input” to the second KD-SCDA8 unit.  You can cascade multiple units
this way, allowing you to distribute your signals to 16 or more desti-
nations.  In addition, the power supply is also available as a
“Throughput” output (adjacent to the A/V output jacks), thereby
allowing you to use one heavy-duty power supply on the first KD-
SCDA8 unit, and feeding the power along with the “Throughput” A/V to
the daisy-chained units.

Setting Up Your Distribution Amplifier (“DA”) for Operation

The KD-SCDA8 Composite Video and S-Video Distribution Amplifier (DA)
is

easy to configure and operate

.

1.

First, find a safe and convenient location for the DA.  There

are flanges on each side of the metal case so the unit can be
bolted into position, if desired.
