When examination, 3% acetic acid solution should be coated on the cervix
surface, in the role of acetic acid ,columnar epithelium gets edema, whitish into like
grape shape, while the squamous epithelium is slightly pale but not like the grape
shapes. By this way to identify cervical squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium.
After finishing the acid test, use 1% iodine solution evenly spread on the surface of the
cervix, columnar epithelium does not stained, original squamous epithelium is stained
dark brown,
squamous metaplasia of epithelial metaplasia according to their maturity
show different staining different shades. In order to more clearly observe the
morphological changes of blood vessels , the green color filter may be used for
inspection. Meanwhile, the normal blood vessel contraction will shrink immediately
under the acetic acid, while abnormal blood vessels has not showed the change,
hereby to help to identify the nature of the blood vessels.

Colposcope examination attentions
1. Avoid using lubricants when vaginal expansion device is inserted.
2. Vaginal expansion device should be placed on the level direction to avoid
abrasions cervix
3. Best test time for 3% acetic acid is 10-20 seconds.
4. Iodine test to help beginners avoid misdiagnosis.
5. Fully exposed the neck to avoid misdiagnosis.
6. Do not ignore the shift in the transforming the region.
7. Choice of surgery time
1) Without time limit for the suspected cervical cancer or precancerous lesions;
2) The good time understanding the desirability of cervical lesions pipe is near
the period of ovulation or in the ovulation period;
3) other diseases are appropriate in 2 weeks after the end of menstrual period.
