Modifications
WARNING!
Do not drill new holes any closer than 2 inches (50 mm) to existing holes. Frame drilling affects the
strength of the rails.
Before the rear suspension is relocated, check the new location of the spring hanger brackets. The new holes for the spring
hanger brackets must not overlap existing holes and should not come any closer than 2 inches (50 mm) to existing
holes.

Crossmembers

After changing a wheelbase, an additional crossmember may be required to maintain the original frame strength. The
maximum allowable distance between adjacent crossmembers is 60 inches (1524 mm). If the distance between adja-
cent crossmembers exceeds this dimension, add a crossmember between them. See Figure 6-4.
