Chapter Three: Setting Up on the Receiver
It is possible to set up the speakers on the receiver main
unit.
However, some of the setting items such as the identifiable
device registration should also be set on Remote Control
unit. If setup is made on Remote Control unit, it is not nec-
essary to repeat any setup on the receiver side.
Therefore, it is recommended to perform setup on Remote
Control unit. This chapter describes the setup on the re-
ceiver only as an alternative method in case the setup is not
made on Remote Control unit.
Do not operate Remote Control unit during the receiver
setup.
Preparation for setup
Most of the receiver control keys are accommodated inside
the panel door. Make the following preparation for setup
on the receiver.
1. Plug the power cord into a household power outlet.

REMOTE POWER
key to turn the receiver
ON
.

Press the
POWER
switch to supply the main power. The
receiver now enters the STANDBY mode (in which re-
mote control is available). Then press the
ON/STANDBY
key to turn the receiver
ON
.
4. Open the panel door by pushing its lower part.

Press the SET UP key inside the panel door to dis-
play “
SUBWOOFER OFF (or ON)
”.

NORMAL)”.

MAL” (normal-sized speakers).
If the
SUBWOOFER
is set to “OFF”, the
FRONT
speakers are set automatically to “LARGE” and the
CENTER
speaker selection display appears automati-
cally.

CENTER
speaker:

SET UP
key to display “CENTER NORMAL
(or LARGE or OFF)”.

CENTER LARGE
(large-sized speaker),
NORMAL
(normal-sized speaker) or

(no center speaker).
If the
FRONT
is set to “NORMAL”, the
CENTER
speaker can be set to only either “NORMAL” or
“OFF”.

ON)”.

key to proceed to “Agjusting the
speaker volumes” below. To exit from setting, press
the
SET UP
key repeatedly until “SETUP FIXED” is
displayed.
If the
SUBWOOFER
is set to “OFF”, this step is
skipped. For details on the SW RE-MIX and the se-
lection of speakers, please see page 36.
