ABOUT THE KGP-2A/ KGP-2B
The KGP-2A is a GPS (Global Positioning System) terminal modem unit that is
primary used along with the KENWOOD TK-X80, TK-X60G series mobile
transceivers. It can send the mobile location data and various status reports to
the KGP-2B base unit.
The KGP-2B is a GPS base modem unit, designed to be used at the base
station. It functions as the GPS base modem unit to receive the mobile location
data and various status reports from the KGP-2A. The modem can also send
various command data to the KGP-2A, through the transceiver.
Both units are equipped with a standard RS-232C port (ACC1) that can be
connected to an IBM PC or compatible computer in order to program the
settings, change the operating mode, or update the internal firmware.

DC SOURCE LED
Lights green when the DC power is supplied from the transceiver.

Lights red when the modem unit is sending data. Lights green when
receiving data. Lights orange when the transceiver is out of communication
range.

GPS LED; KGP-2A only
Lights green when the KGP-2A is receiving GPS satellite signals. Blinks
when the KGP-2A cannot receive GPS satellite signal.

MODE SW
Operating mode selection switch. This switch is for use only by service
technicians when the KGP-2A/ KGP-2B needs maintenance or servicing.

ACC1 (D-sub 9-pin, male connector)
A standard RS-232C port that can be connected to an IBM PC or compatible
computer’s communication (COM) port.

RADIO (Molex 15-pin, male connector)
Connect the transceiver to this connector. The KGP-2A/ KGP-2B sends/
receives data through this connector, to/ from the transceiver. It is also used
as a source of DC power from the transceiver. A pre-assembled optional
cable, KCT-34 (TK-X80 series) or KCT-35 (TK-X60G series) is available.
