MECHANISM DESCRIPTION

1-7 Disassembling the Traverse gear A.

1. Remove the traverse gear A.

1-8 Optical Pickup Tilt Adjustment

TRAVERSE

STEP1

Turn the power on with
pressing the "DISC 1" key.

STEP2

(Display shows "INSPECTION " , test mode.)

  Press "OPEN/CLOSE " key.

STEP3

  Load  DVD disc and play 1st chapter.

Press "SKIP UP/DOWN " keys

  (Inner periphery)

for Tno. up or down.

STEP4

  Press "PLAY " key.
  Check to see that "JITTER XXX % " is displayed.

(Present jitter value.)

STEP5

  Adjust to the minimum jitter value.

Do steps 5~7 from the bottom of

  (Tangential adjustment screw)

the main unit using a hex wrench.

STEP6

  Play DVD disc last chapter. (Outer periphery)
  (Tilt adjustment screw1)
  Adjust to the minimum jitter value.

STEP7

Repeat adjusting tilt
adjustment screws

1 and 2 alternately,

  Play DVD disc last chapter. (Outer periphery)

two or three times.

  (Tilt adjustment screw2)
  Adjust to the minimum jitter value.

STEP8

NG

Play the disc to make sure there is no picture 
degradation in the inner, middle and outer
peripheries, and no audio skipping.

OK

 Start

 Check condition
after adjustment

 Pull out the traverse unit.
(Refer to disassembly procedure
in this manual.

Lock the adjustment screw in
position using screw lock.

   Assemble the main unit.

Follow procedure for handling after
repairs are completed.
