Before Setting Oven Controls
Oven vent location
The oven vent is located under the control panel (
Figure 16
).
Warm air passes through this vent. It is normal for steam or
moisture to appear around the vent. This venting is necessary for
proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results. Do
not block oven vent:
Always use pot holders or oven mitts when
using the oven. When cooking, the oven interior and exterior,
oven racks and cooktop will become very hot which can cause
burns.
Protective Liners — Do not use aluminum foil to
line the oven bottom. Only use aluminum foil as recommended
in this manual. Improper installation of these liners may result in
risk of electric shock, or fire.
Important note: Always remove all racks and accessories from
the oven before a self clean.
Air circulation in the oven
For best baking results allow 2-4" (5-10 cm) around the
cookware for proper air circulation and be sure pans and
cookware do not touch each other, the oven door, sides or back
of the oven cavity. Hot air must be able to circulate around the
cookware in the oven for even heat to reach around the food.
Types of Oven Racks
The flat oven rack (some models) or flat handle oven rack (some
models) may be used for most cooking needs. The offset oven
rack (on some models) is designed to place the base of the rack
about 1/2 of a rack position lower than flat oven racks.
The Glide oven rack (some models) allows you to easily slide
bakeware in and out to check food or to remove or place items
while firmly holding even heavier items in place. The rack is held
in place securely and will not extend beyond the glide stop
position unless it is released manually.
To remove the Luxury Glide™ rack for cleaning or when
performing a self clean cycle.
1.
Grasp the locking bar beneath the handle as shown in
Figure 18
. Pulling up on this bar unlocks the rack.
2. When the lock is released, pull the rack towards you until it
stops (
Figure 19
).
3. Grasp the Glide rack on both sides and gently lift it up to
allow the rack to move past the stop position (
Figure 20
)
and remove the rack.
4. When replacing the rack into the oven, set the Glide rack
into the desired rack position by using the directions in step
3 in reverse.
