Troubleshooting
3.1
Self-testing
When the device is powered on, the top green LED on the RJ45 ports will flash once
then go out, the bottom green LED on the RJ45 will light in succession, starting at P1
to P8, each port will continue to light in turn unless it is connected to an external
device. The power (P1 & P2) and P-Fail LEDs will be lit according to the power being
supplied to the unit and the DIP switch selection (see Section 2.7).
If problems are encountered when using this Ethernet switch please check the
following:
•
Verify that the correct power supply unit is being used; this unit requires a
48Vdc supply.
•
Ensure that the correct cables are being used to construct your network:
o
Unshielded Twisted Pair or Shielded Twisted Pair for RJ45 connections
o
100Ω Cat 3 cable or above for 10Mbps connections
o
100Ω Cat 5 cable or above for 100Mbps connections
o
100Ω Cat 5e cable or above for 1000Mbps connections
o
Twisted pair connection must not exceed 100m (328 feet)
