Handpiece burs and contra-angle burs

The only burs to be used are those corresponding to the

DIN EN ISO 1797-1

norm and

are made from steel or hardened metal,
- with a shaft diameter of

2.334-2.350 mm,

with

bur stop

- a bur shaft length

of min. 12 mm,

- a total bur length

up to max. 22 mm

without

bur stop

- a bur shaft length

of min. 30 mm,

- a total bur length

up to max. 44.5 mm

Ensure that the burs are only used for the specific purpose as stated in the
manufacturers instructions.
Burs which deviate from the stated measurements must not be used. Never
use burs with worn-down shafts since these may come loose during treatment,
possibly causing injury.

Inserting the handpiece and contra-angle
burs

Turn the locking ring against the direction of
the arrow as far as it will go and place the
handpiece bur or contra-angle bur in the chuck.
Then return locking ring to its original position.

Check the function of the chuck by
pulling on the bur. Use gloves or
another type of finger protection to
test, insert and remove in order to
avoid any risk of injury and infection.
Remove burs from the handpiece
when finished with treatment. Placing
the instrument in its holder with a
bur remaining in the chuck may
result in injury and infection.

Contact with soft tissue by the
instrument head / instrument tip
should be avoided as heating up
and therefore burning of tissue is
possible.

Removing the handpiece and contra-angle
burs

After bur stop, turn the locking ring against
the direction of the arrow until it stops.
Remove the bur and then turn the locking ring
back to its original position.

Modification for using contra-angle burs

By using contra-angle burs, the
handpiece 10 CH has to be modified.

• Open handpiece chuck.
• Introduce enclosed bur stop into the chuck.
• Insert contra-angle bur and press it against

bur stop.

• To remove bur stop use enclosed hook.
