1. Set the Manual Switch to Neutral.
2. Press and hold the trigger for 5 seconds. The blue LED starts blinking 5 times and turns off.
3. Release the trigger and set the driver to the desired position, (F) Forward, or (R) Reverse.
4. Operate driver as required.
5. For the maximum number of cycles per charge, use the LOW setting.
6. To increase productivity, the HIGH speed setting may be used only for thread sizes 6-32 and

above. WARNING: Using HIGH speed on smaller sizes will cause premature wear and/or

damage to the tools.

1. Insert a fully charged battery into the back of the driver while the manual switch is set to the

Netural position. Snap it in place.

2. Ensure that the Hex Shaft Magnet (see Figure 2) is located inside the drive shaft. If not, insert the

magnet so the threads are visible inside the drive shaft. Lightly tap to place to the correct depth.

3. Push back the Locking Sleeve, insert the Mandrel into the shaft, and release the Locking Sleeve.
4. Set the KFS-30 to the desired speed setting and adjust the torque (see page 2).
5. Ensure the Manual Switch is set to the (F) Forward position.
6. For detailed instructions and information, please refer to the 2KHE or KHE series instructions.

1. Insert a fully charged battery into the back of the driver while the manual switch is set to the

Netural position. Snap it in place.

2. Ensure that the Hex Shaft Magnet (See Figure 2) is NOT located inside the drive shaft. If so,

thread the Magnet Removal Screw into the magnet and pull out. Place components aside.

3. Remove the Protective Collar and thread the Prewinder Adapter onto the KFS-30 driver (Left

Hand Threads).

4. Remove the Retainer Nut from the Prewinder Adapter (Left Hand Threads).
5. Insert the Front-End Assembly and thread the Retainer Nut back onto the Prewinder Adapter.
6. Set the KFS-30 to the desired speed setting and adjust the torque (see page 2).
7. Ensure the Manual Switch is set to the (F) Forward position.
8. For detailed instructions and information, please refer to the 2KPE or KPE series instructions.

1. Set the KFS-30 to the lowest possible torque setting. To increase the torque, turn the Torque

Adjustment Knob clockwise. To decrease the torque, turn the Torque Adjustment Knob

counterclockwise, See Figure 2.

2. Turn the Torque Adjustment Knob half a turn and gradually increase until the minimum

installation torque is reached. Note: Always use the minimum amount of torque that will

install the insert. This will reduce the possibility of damaging the Mandrel or Pawl and

extend tool’s life.

The KFS-30 driver can be set to LOW or HIGH, depending on the size being installed. To switch the

speed settings from LOW to HIGH or vice versa:

For insert installation, the manual switch should always be set in the (F) Forward position. The driver

will reverse direction automatically once the insert is installed properly and the installation torque is

adjusted correctly. If the switch is set to Neutral, the KFS-30 will not operate.

TIPS & TRICKS

Having difficulty? Try one or more of

these helpful tips:

•  If the insert cannot find the lead

thread, tap the Trigger a few times to

help facilitate installation.

•  To optimize installation and reduce

tool wear, consider increasing the

minor diameter of the tapped hole

from mean to top limit.

•  Use the KATO Linear or Articulating

Torque Arm to ensure the tool is

perpendicular to the work surface.
