Mast mounting and mast calculation

(fig.1)

- Check carefully when mounting the mast that the mast

is mounted vertically.

- Use only masts and mast material specifically

designed for antenna installation. Other piping is
generally not suitable for antenna installation as it
does not provide sufficient stability against wind and
weather influences. Kathrein masts and clamps are
specifically designed for antenna installation. See
Kathrein mast tables on page 3 of this guide.

- The span-width of the Olympia antennas is for the

clamp range 22 to 60 mm.

- When mounting a mast on a roof, at least 1/6 of the

length must be clamped firmly.

- Ensure that the mast clamps are mounted on firm

materials (wood, concrete, brickwork).

*) On buildings higher than 20 stories, a dynamic pressure of 1100 N/m

is

considered.

Mounting several antennas on one mast

When mounting several antennas on one mast, the
maximal loading limits of the mast or the clamps must
not be exceeded.

Antenna installation

(fig 2)

1. Connect together the antenna elements (dependant

on type) and firmly affix using the butterfly nuts
provided.

2. Mount the dipole with the cable connection housing

on to the antenna’s main boom (4 square) using the
provided milled nut.

3. Open up the back-reflector grid and affix to the

antenna boom with the provided butterfly nuts.

Cable connection  housing

(fig 3-5)

1. Unscrew the milled nut on the cable connection

housing and remove the cover.

2. Isolate the cable.
3. Open the cable pull-secure clamp and the cable

connection clamp.

4. Connect the cable and clamp in firmly.
5. Replace the cover and screw down firmly.
6. Install the cable so that it does not flatter or is under

any friction (eg with cable ties, isolating band or
cable clamps).

7. To ensure that no water can flow into the mast or

seep into walling lay the cable with a drip-bend (fig 5).

Antenna alignment

1. Align the antenna until the best reception results are

achieved using a TV or signal meter. Set to a suitable
programme.

2. Firmly screw down the butterfly nuts on the antenna’s

mast clamp.

4. For the types AOS 32, AOS 65 and AOT 65 place the

bow-boom on the marked positions and affix firmly
using the provided butterfly nuts.

5. Open up the mast clamp and affix the antenna to the

mast. Primarily, only screw down the fixing screws
lightly to allow one to align the antenna for best
reception.
