ENGLISH
1. Intended use
FilmCopy dia MF is a holding device for the exact positioning
of mounted medium format slides (4.5 x 6 cm and 6 x 6 cm
slides in mounts 7 x 7 cm) during digitization on light boxes.
Use FilmCopy dia MF only as described in these instruc-
tions. Any other use has to be considered as not as intended
and can result in material damage or physical injury. FilmCopy
dia MF is not a toy.
Kaiser Fototechnik takes no responsibility for damages
caused by not intended or incorrect use.
2. Check scope of supply (fig. A)
When unpacking the devices for the first time, please check
if the scope of supply is complete. It comprises:
- FilmCopy dia MF (1)
- Overlay mat (5) against stray light
Additional equipment required for digitizing work:
- Camera with close-up capability (e.g. with macro lens)
- Copy stand (see fig. D) or tripod with reversible center
column (see fig. E)
- Light box (e.g. slimlite plano, code no. 2453, see fig. C)
- Optionally a remote release to prevent camera shake with
longer exposure times
3. Using FilmCopy dia MF (fig. B)
Position the FilmCopy dia MF in the middle of the included
overlay mat (5) on top of a light box. The rubber feet of the
FilmCopy dia MF must be located at the corners of the
cutout of the overlay mat. The overlay mat serves as a stray
light protection.
When positioning the overlay mat (5) on the “slimlite plano”
light box (6) (optional accessory, code no. 2453), please make
sure that the complete illuminated area of the light box is
covered by the mat. Run the light box at the highest possible
brightness when digitizing.
Place the mounted slide in the allocated recess (2). The re-
cess is provided with grip recesses (4) on both sides so that
the slide can be easily removed.
FilmCopy dia MF is equipped with four slidable masking
strips to narrow down the cutout area and to avoid stray
light. This will be necessary, if – for example – you want to
select a specific frame to scan it utilising the complete sen-
sor size and thus achiving a higher resolution. There are four
masking strip sliders (3) to position the corresponding mask-
ing strips.
The masking strips are also useful to shade unwanted parts
of the picture at the edges.
Please note that you will not get perfect edge sharpness in
the area of the masking strips.
4. Maintenance and care
FilmCopy dia MF is maintenance-free.
Clean FilmCopy dia MF with a soft dry cloth. On no account
use petrol or other solvents.
