TROUBLESHOOTING
If, after following the steps in the chart below, the problem
still exists, please consult your nearest JVC dealer.
Power
●
The power is not connected properly.
H
Connect the AC Adapter securely. (
●
The battery is dead.
H
Replace the dead battery with a fully charged one.

Video and D.S.C. Recording
●
The tape’s erase protection tab is set to “SAVE”.
H
Set the tape’s erase protection tab to “REC”. (
●
“TAPE END” appears.

Replace with new cassette. (

The cassette holder cover is open.

Close the cassette holder cover.

Your TV has AV input terminals, but is not set to its VIDEO

Set the TV to the mode or channel appropriate for video

The cassette holder cover is open.

Close the cassette holder cover. (

Clean the video heads with an optional cleaning cassette.

Advanced features
●
Focus is set to the Manual mode.

Set Focus to the Auto mode. (
●
The lens is dirty or covered with condensation.

Clean the lens and check the focus again. (

The Squeeze mode (SQUEEZE) is selected.

Disengage the Squeeze (SQUEEZE) mode. (
●
The light source or the subject does not include white. Or
there are various different light sources behind the subject.

Find a white subject and compose your shot so that it also
appears in the frame. (

Shooting was performed under backlit conditions.

The subject is too bright.

activated.

mode before setting White Balance. (

When shooting in the dark, the unit becomes highly
sensitive to light when “GAIN UP” is set to “AUTO”.

If you want the lighting to look more natural, set “GAIN UP”
to “AGC” or “OFF”. (
The camcorder is a microcomputer-controlled device.
External noise and interference (from a TV, a radio, etc.)
might prevent it from functioning properly. In such
cases, first disconnect its power supply unit (battery
pack, AC Adapter, etc.) and wait a few minutes; and
then re-connect it and proceed as usual from the
beginning.
No power is supplied.
Recording cannot be performed.
When shooting a subject illuminated by bright light,
vertical lines appear.
When the screen is under direct sunlight during
shooting, the screen becomes red or black for an
instant.
During recording, the date/ time does not appear.
The LCD monitor or viewfinder indications blink.
Digital Zoom does not work.
The tape is moving, but there is no picture.
Blocks of noise appear during playback, or there is
no playback picture and the screen becomes blue.
The focus does not adjust automatically.
Snapshot mode cannot be used.
The colour of Snapshot looks strange.
The image taken using Snapshot is too dark.
The image taken using Snapshot is too bright.
White Balance cannot be activated.
The Black & White Fader does not work.
The image looks like the shutter speed is too slow.
