To locate a particular point in a program (SCAN)

To adjust Playback Speed
During play, press SLOW on the remote control.
When you press the button, moving picture speed is
set to lower speed than that of normal playback.
Each time you press the button, moving picture
runs at 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 of the normal playing speed.
• To resume normal playback, press CD

SELECT.
During slow motion playback
No sound comes out, and you can select only forward operation.
To play Still- and Frame-by-Frame pictures
During play, press SINGLE STEP on the remote
control.
When you press the button, playback pauses and
a still picture is shown on the TV screen. Each
time you press the button, still pictures advance
repeatedly by one frame.
• To resume normal playback, press CD

SELECT.
During frame-by-frame playback
No sound comes out, and you can select only forward operation.
Playing Video CDs
You can play Video CDs either with or without the PBC
(PlayBack Control) function.
Before playing, set video output correctly according to your TV
system. Refer to “Connecting Other Equipment” on page 8.

Turn on the TV and select the video input so
that you can view the pictures from the unit.
• Refer also to the manual supplied with your TV.

Prepare the discs.
• Refer to “Loading CDs” on page 12.
When you load video CDs, “VIDEO CD” appears on the
display.

Start playback of the discs.
You can play Video CDs by using same buttons for
playing audio CD both on the unit and on the Remote
Control.
• Refer to “Basic CD operations” on page 13.
To stop during play, press and hold

To stop play and remove the disc, press

for the disc being
played.
Please make sure that the Video CDs to be played
is not flawed optically, as this may cause a
distorted sound or the unit to malfunction.
To adjust the color system — NTSC/PAL
According to a Video CD or the color system
used on your TV, press NTSC/PAL during
play.
Each time you press the button, the
following appears in the display window
and on the TV screen.
• Be sure to select either NTSC or PAL position when the picture
on the TV screen appears correctly.
About the color system
When wrong position selected, picture on TV screen will lose the
color and change into monochrome view.
