V-Chip
Your T V is equipped with V-C hip technology which enables T V P arental G uidelines (for U nited
S tates and C anada) and M ovie (M PAA) G uideline controls. V-C hip technology allows you to pro-
gram your T V to receive, or not to receive, program s based on content according to the guidelines.
P rogram s which exceed the ratings lim its you set will be blocked. W hen a viewer attem pts to watch
a blocked channel, this m essage appears:
T he channel will rem ain blocked until the correct lock code is entered (see page 29 for inform ation
on setting your lock code).
You can custom ize the V-C hip settings of your television to m atch your personal tastes. T he V-C hip
m enu below is the starting point for your V-C hip settings
You can use U S V-C hip settings (for programming broadcast from the U nited S tates), C anadian
V-C hip settings (for programming broadcast from C anada), and movie ratings. You may use any or all of
the settings (U S V-C hip, C anada V-C hip, M ovie ratings). D escriptions for setting each of the three V-
C hip formats appear in the next seven pages along with descriptions of the rating categories.
