12.

Adjustment
The dethatcher must be correctly adjusted for optimal performance.
1.
Place the vehicle pulling the dethatcher on an even surface, e.g. a driveway or garage. Couple the
dethatcher on the vehicle. Adjust the mounting plate if it is not horizontal. Loosen the nuts holding
the towing arms in the large, rear angle brackets. Make sure that the mounting plate is level and
that both the front and rear row of tine springs are in contact with the ground (fig. 10). Tighten the
nuts fully.

Figure 11
Experiment to find which speed gives the best results. We recommend going across the grass in crossing
patterns for best results.
If the dethatcher jumps on the ground and does not produce the desired results, you can add weights to
the dethatcher. We recommend that you use concrete slabs, as they give a low centre of gravity. Attach
them to the mounting plate so that they do not fall off (fig. 11).
MAINTENANCE
1.
Make sure that all nuts and bolts are tightened fully before use.
2.
Lubricate the wheels if necessary.
3.
Any rust on the dethatcher should be sanded off with a fine sandpaper and then painted.
4.
Store the dethatcher in a dry place. Apply a thin layer of oil on bare metal surfaces to prevent rust.
