This appliance should be wired directly to a mains supply with an effective earthing system. This
system must meet local and national safety regulations. As with all electrical appliances, it is
recommended that they are tested regularly by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be
held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system e.g. electric shock.
This appliance must not be connected to the mains supply via an extension lead.
The appliance should be kept clean at all times and where there are external components, these also
should be kept clean and regularly maintained and serviced.
The external area of this appliance should only be washed with mild soapy water. The electrical area
should not be allowed to come into contact with water.
Safety in Use
Never use open flames beneath the cooker hood under any circumstances. There is a risk of flames
being drawn into the appliance causing damage to the appliance or its filters and fats or oils residing
in the filters may present a fire hazard.
Do not use cooker or hob rings without pans and when cooking has finished, ensure that the rings are
turned off to prevent overheating to the extractor hood. Always switch the cooker hood on when
cooking.
Do not touch the lamps during use as these can get hot.
Never leave pans or fryers unattended. Never leave an open grill unattended as overheated oil and
fat could set the cooker hood on fire. Do not use the cooker hood without the grease filters in place.
Ensure that filters are changed as appropriate.
Safety of Children
This appliance is not suitable for use by young children
The use of the appliance should be explained to older children to enable them to use it safely.
Packaging should be kept out of reach of babies and young children.
Installation
Safety regulations prohibit the use of this appliance over a solid fuel stove of any kind.
The minimum safety distance between the top of an electrical cooker or hob and the bottom
of the cooker hood is 65cm.
The minimum safety distance between the top of the gas cooker or hob and the bottom of the cooker
hood is 75cm.
All pipe work and fittings must be non-flammable.
The appliance must not be connected to a chimney or vent that is in use.
The appliance must not be fitted in a room that contains a fireplace.
You should seek advice from a professional installer on all other matters. When using the appliance
in a room or area where another heating appliance exists, ventilation may be required. These
appliances include gas, oil, wood and coal fires and burners. When the appliance is used in
extraction mode the appliance will draw air from the room and there may be insufficient air for clean
combustion of the burning appliance. This may bring about an increase in Carbon Monoxide.
You should seek expert advice from a competent builder or for gas;
a “Gassafe” registered installer
must be consulted.
