Z2C Installation and Operation Manual
The Audio Priority function provides additional control over “who has the floor” at any time. A
channel with higher priority value will “win” if the Z2C simultaneously detects the onset of active
COR on two or more channels.
If
Suppress Other Audio
is enabled, this channel will also preempt any currently active lower-
priority channel, even if one of those channels is currently exhibiting active COR.
The settings box defaults, as shown below, have all channels at identical (zero) priority and no
ability to suppress any other channel’s audio.

A potential use to illustrate the function involves a Z2 Controller wide area system consisting of
multiple radios and other voice resources, with the USB headset (or any other device) used as the
Dispatch Source for some of the radio channels, with a higher priority assigned to the headset.
This allows the Dispatcher/headset user to break into an ongoing transmission from any radio
user.
Note that the radio user, whose radio is in TX mode, will not be able to hear the audio from the
headset until the radio is taken out of TX mode because the majority of radios are half duplex.
However, all other system interfaces in the conversation, who will not be in TX mode, will hear
the headset audio.

MCC-4 Multi-Channel Audio Console with Boom Mic
The MCC-4 Multi-Channel Console and the MCC-1 Single Channel Desktop Console provide
an excellent method for remote audio connections to a Z2C system because once an interface has
been made between the MCC Console and a Z-series product, an operator at a console can
communicate with any other resource interfaced to the system.
Based on the ETC CS-64/74 (four channel) and the ETC CS 61/71 (single-channel) series, these
consoles have been modified to communicate with JPS Z-series systems using the proprietary
JPS Bridge protocol.
The MCC-4 Multi-Channel Console features four independent PTT buttons, each operating as a
separate channel. Connect all four channels to the same Z2C or connect channels to other JPS Z-
series products (Z2 Controller, ACU-Z1, RSP-Z2). Both models feature a boom mic that can be
set to operate by its PTT switch, by VOX, or both.
